Riverside Park: The marginal lands and the enclosed viaduct that covers the New York Central Railroad tracks as viewed northward from W. 72nd Street. Note the radical changes effected in this area by the West Side Improvement Project which at this point was under the joint auspices of the Department of Parks and the Railroad Company. Compare this photograph with one taken in 1915 from this vantage point, both being incorporated in a brochure published by the Park Department on October 12, 1937. Samuel H. Gottscho Gift of Department of Parks 1937.
