Manhattan: 12th Avenue - 43rd Street

Twelfth Avenue, west side, at West 43rd Street, showing street activity outside of the pier that formerly housed the Hamburg - American Steamship Line. The photographer states the line consists of relief recipients awaiting their dole for the work performed by them at Bear Mountain Palisade Park. This was a phase of the local experiment under the C.W.A. It was replaced with the direct government directed projects under the W.P.A. August 29, 1933. P. L. Sperr.
