A general view eastward from atop the Bank of Manhattan Building at No. 40 Wall Street, north side, west of William Street, to show the upper portions of several buildings of the financial district silhouetted against the East River and its piers. That, with the ornamentation is the Bank of New York and Trust Company Building. Beyond appears the irregular shaped Wall and Hanover (Brown Brothers) Building. To the right and overshadowing the others is the City Bank-Farmers Trust Company Building. Nestling in the hollow formed by these structures is the National City Bank. The tall smoke stack in the background is atop the new United States Assay Office on South Street at Old Slip. View No. 3 is southeastward towards Governors Island and shows the Coenties Slip vicinity overshadowed by the rear of the International Telephone Building, No. 67 Broad Street.
