Manhattan: 5th Avenue - 57th Street

Fifth Avenue, north from 57th Street, seen from the Heckscher Building on the S.W. corner of 57th Street. 1 East 57th Street, on the corner, and the small house adjoining it, have been demolished in November and are to be replaced by a 15-story building. On the S.E. corner of 58th Street the 32-story Squibb Building, 745 Fifth Avenue, is shown in the later stages of construction. The new Savoy Plaza Hotel occupies the block from 58th to 59th Streets, and the Sherry-Netherland the N.W. corner of 59th Street, on the sites respectively of the old Hotels Savoy and Netherland. Beyond, on the S.E. corner of 61st Street, the George A. Fuller Company is erecting a tall apartment house on the site of the old Elbridge T. Gerry mansion. Ewing Galloway, Photographer. Early 1930.
