A general view westward from No. 1 Hanson Place, the Williamsburg Savings Bank Building, toward the East River and the Lower Manhattan skyline (view 2). The two prominent thoroughfares running from the fore- to the background are: Schermerhorn Street (right), with the Baptist Temple at the corner of Third Avenue, and State Street. The modern building, in the left foreground, is the Y. W. C. A.; another Y. W. C. A. is the quadrangular building in the center of the view, extending from State to Schermerhorn Streets, at Neving Street. In the center background is the Abraham and Straus department store.
