Manhattan: Gay Street - Waverly Place.
14 and 16 Gay Street, west side, between Waverly Place and Christopher Street. Scotch weavers inhabited Gay Street over a century ago. About 20 years ago the one-block street had the distinction of being the only Negro street in the Washington Square neighborhood.
