The Rio Theatre, shown in the left center of No. 2 and occupying that irregular block bounded by Fort Washington Ave., Broadway and West 160th Street has been completely acquired by Cardinal Hayes, who formerly had only a half interest in this and others, from the relatives of the late John Whalen according to the New York Times of April 17, 1938. The other real estate involved is the easterly block front of Amsterdam Ave. between 154th and 155th Streets.
