Queens: Springfield Boulevard - 47th Avenue

Springfield Boulevard, east side, at 47th Avenue, showing the Platt Carll House, a yellow shingled home. Carll was the owner in 1860 and J. O'Donnell in 1873-1909. Platt Carll was sheriff of Flushing and dealt in cattle. The entrance to the O'Donnell property was on Rocky Hill Road, which at this point is now (1941) 216th Street, the house having been situated at the southwestern tip of Douglas Pond, the present Oakland Lake.
