Manhattan: Leroy Street - Greenwich Street

Leroy Street, north side, from Greenwich to Hudson Streets, and St. Luke's Place, the extension of Leroy Street east of Hudson Street through the former Trinity Cemetery. The bend in the street, in the background of the picture, coincides with the old boundary line between the Trinity Church Farm, on the west, and the Herring Farm, on the east. In the 1840's the northern half of the cemetery, which originally extended from Clarkson to Morton Streets, was given up by Trinity Church. Leroy Street, on being cut through, met the western end of Burton Street, and absorbed it, the whole being renumbered west from Bleecker (formerly Herring) Street.
