Islands - Coney Island beach - [Sunbathers and vendors.]

(1) Sunbathers at Coney Island Beach who, with clothes on hickory limb, are not going near the water. August 9, 1932. P. L. Sperr. (2) A small portion of the beach. Notice the flower vendor peddling his wares. As this is a week-day, the crowd is not very large. August 9, 1932. P. L. Sperr. (3) More sun-bathers. The pretzel vendor is trying to create a demand for her wares. The pretzels will, of course, create a thirst which can be quenched with lemonade (beer is not yet legal), the lemonade and sea-air will cause a hunger to be satisfied with hot-dogs, hamburger and onions, and ice-cream, which will cause a stomachache to be subdued with bicarbonate of soda.
