Bronx: White Plains Road - 239th Street (East)

4526 White Plains Road (foreground), east side, between East 239th and East 240th Streets, showing a 1-story brick structure, used as a chicken market, occupying that site. The building is set back from the sidewalk about fifty feet and adjoins the elevated trestle of the I.R.T. subway line. The trestle connects the main White Plains Road subway line with the car yards. On the left appears the car house of the I.R.T. facing on the east side of Furman Ave. May 24, 1928. P. L. Sperr.
