Brooklyn: Myrtle Avenue - Palmetto Street

(1) At the intersection of Myrtle Ave., with Palmetto Street and Wyckoff Ave., showing (center) at the N.E. corner of Myrtle Ave., and Palmetto Street. The 4-story building owned by the Bushwick R.R. Co., had its offices and stables, on land owned by Peter Meserole in 1855. This building was partly destroyed by fire on September 15, 1923. The cafe at the right, is at the S.E. corner of Wyckoff and Myrtle Aves. To the left is a portion of the Myrtle Ave. Elevated line of the B.M.T. (The elevated makes a sharp turn from Myrtle Ave., into Palmetto Street at this point). 1922. Eugene L. Armbruster Collection. (2) The same, showing a closer view of the R.R. Co's building. 1922. The theatre's site was originally part of the Ganta Farm, which was sold for $4,000 per acre, to the Bushwick R.R. Co., which erected its Ridgewood Depot and stables here in 1872.
