Manhattan: 4th Avenue - 13th Street

Fourth Avenue (right), at the S.E. corner of East 13th St. Shown is the 13th Street side of this triangular plot and its well covered fence. The American Theatre is presenting Tony Pastor; the large painting "the Army of the Potomac" is on display; Hooleys Opera House presents "Campbells"; the Hippotheatron displays the Harlequin Bluebeard; the Sunday Mercury advertises "the Fair Lillians" or "Life in Death"; Heller, J.F. Owens, a live Indian, Paul Pry appear in "the Heritage ----"; Bluebeard, Bryants Minstrels and Hoods Minstrels are on the adjoining boards. These theatres are in this vicinity, tho several changed their identities; Wallacks becoming the Star in 1881, and Bryants Minstrel Hall changing to Tony Pastors Theatre.
