Manhattan: 12th Avenue - 31st Street

Twelfth Avenue, east side, between W. 31st and 32nd Streets, showing a portion of the New York Central Railroad yards on this westerly margin of Manhattan. The photographer is viewing mainly eastward to show the distant Empire State Building being belittled by a rubbish incinerator's smoke stack. A latter photo will show the circular loop of the new elevated railroad bed at this location. April 22, 1931. P. L. Sperr.
