Manhattan: 23rd Street - 9th Avenue

(1) 23rd Street at N.W. corner of Ninth Avenue. The row of houses belong to the original London Terrace, built in 1845 by Bishop Clement C. Moore, author of "The Night before Christmas," and modeled after fashionable apartment houses of London. They were wrecked in 1929 and 1930, and replaced by the series of large apartment houses of the same name. March 12, 1929. (2) The same looking east. March 27, 1929. P. L. Sperr.
