Manhattan: Pearl Street - Broad Street

(1) Pearl Street, east from but not including Broad Street, to and including Coenties Slip. The view shows the Second and Third Ave., Elevated on Pearl Street and turning south on Coenties Slip. (Pearl Street, is arbitrarily set to run north and south when north of Coenties Slip and east and west when south of Coenties Slip). May 30, 1930. P. L. Sperr. (2) A more inclusive scene and showing a complete view of Fraunces Tavern, No. 54 Pearl and No. 99 Broad Street, at the S.E. corner of same. This structure was built by Etienne DeLancey in 1719; purchased by Samuel Fraunces in 1762, who ran it as a tavern until his sale of same in 1785. In 1906 the Sons of the Revolution bought same and restored it to its original appearance. May 1923. Eugene L. Armbruster Collection.
