Queens: 57th Avenue - 58th Street

Fifty-seventh Ave., north side, just east of Fifty-eighth Street showing what is said to be the summer home of Gov. De Witt Clinton. In the foreground is the Long Island Railroad tracks parallel with 56th Road. This house was said to have had an extension thereon at one time. The owners or occupants of this house in their order are; Judge Joseph Sackett who erected this house in 1725; Walter Franklin 1796; Col. Isaac Corsa; then Gov. De Witt Clinton; Judge David S. Jones 1842 (he was the Governor's son-in-law); E. Godfrey 1852-1860; and F. Grassy from 1873 to 1909. It was demolished by fire in November 1933. This is a set of four views. January 1924.
