Manhattan: 8th Avenue - 52nd Street (West)

Eighth Avenue, east side, north from W. 52nd Street. Demolition at the right was for the purpose of sinking a shaft for subway construction under the Avenue. This will remain vacant for years, though used as a parking lot. On 53rd Street appears the 6th Avenue Elevated Line and its 8th Avenue station. 1939 will see the removal of this obsolete system. At the extreme left is the Columbus Monument at Columbus Circle. This terminates this thoroughfare. Central Park is beyond that point. Views 2 and 3 are limited to the 52nd and 53rd Street frontage.
