Metropolitan Avenue, east from Forest Avenue, showing at the corner H. Ruege’s store. The house in which the store is located was erected about 1840 and the store was opened in 1852 or 53. Adjoining it on the left is Herman Ring’s Real Estate Office. The next building is the Volunteer Fireman’s Engine House now the Metropolitan Democratic Club.
