Queens: 111th Street - 51st Avenue

Flushing Meadow Park (Queens): Three of the industrial exhibits at the New York World's Fair 1939-40. View 1 shows the Ford Motor Company Building, on the west side of Grand Central Parkway, and the statue "Samson and the Lion," by the sculptor Benjamin Hawkins. View 2 shows the Aviation Building (right) and the South Corona gate to the Fair, on the east side of 111th Street and 53rd Avenue. The building suggests a plane with its nose stuck inside a hangar. The architects are William Lescaze and J. G. Carr. In view 3 is the Railroads Building, viewing north along the east side of 111th Street from 51st Avenue.
