(1) 2940 West 15th Street, at the N.W. corner of Surf Ave., showing the home of Peter Tilyou, who settled in Coney Island in 1865, and erected the Tilyou House which he conducted until 1895. The house which faces Surf Ave., has a West 15th Street number. Partially seen, is the Villa Penza, at the N.E. corner of Surf Ave., which was demolished for the widening of West 15th Street.
