Manhattan: Madison Avenue - 39th Street (East)

Madison Avenue, east side, from 39th to 40th Streets. Only No. 265, the corner house at 39th Street, will remain in 1935. In the center of the block Nos. 269-71 will shortly be replaced by two story Thibault (wall papers) showroom, then in 1927 a tall office building will be erected. Between this and the 39th Street corner house, No. 267 ("Floor for rent" sign) will be replaced about 1929 by a small structure. Another tall building will be erected 1930-31 on site of 275-77, S.E. corner of 40th Street. Buildings on N.E. corner of 40th Street were demolished in 1925. About 1920.
