A general view of midtown Manhattan above Union Square (left) and west of Fourth Avenue (right) as photographed northwestward from the Consolidated Edison Co. Bldg. The Square is in the lower left corner and is obscured from view tho the office structures on 17th Street, its northern boundary appear. The Guardian Life Bldg. is at the N.E. corner of this street and Fourth Avenue. Outstanding in the upper right are the two insurance structures, the Metropolitan Life and the New York Life Buildings.
