Manhattan: 28th Street (East) - 3rd Avenue
208-214 E. 28th Street, south side, east of Third Avenue, showing a children's playground (constructed and operated by the W. P. A.) on a site where abandoned buildings formerly stood. Thru the cooperation of the various civic, federal authorities and the property owner this play area stands, accessible for sale by the owner, and absent of the fire and health hazards that were present before. Buildings in the background are on E. 27th Street; Third Avenue being on the right and not seen. Gift of Committee on Housing Charity Organization Society In December of 1939, a modern six story apartment house is being constructed on this site. 1938
