Manhattan: Washington Street - Barrow Street

Washington Street, north from Barrow Street, showing mainly the cleared west side of this thoroughfare. Upon same will be erected the elevated roadbed of the New York Central Railroad that extends from the St. Johns Park Freight Terminal and continues up the west side of Manhattan. The low buildings to the left are on the north side of Christopher Street, lying between Washington and Weehawken (extreme left) Streets. View No. 3 emphasizes this feature mainly. The tall smokestacks are those of the Beadleston and Woerz Brewery (q.v.) which was razed in the Summer of 1938. Returning to View 1, one sees at the right margin a portion of the U. S. Government building listed as the Appraisers Stores. The Everards Storage Warehouse is to the north, same being the 12 story structure bearing No. 667 Washington Street and located at the N.E. corner of W. 10th Street.
