Queens: Elmhurst Avenue - Broadway

20 Elmhurst Avenue, adjoining the N.W. corner of Broadway, showing an old mansion. According to Mr. Beecher the house was built by Samuel Lord of Lord and Taylor, fashionable New York department store, as a wedding gift for his daughter Elizabeth (Mrs. Warren) and was known as the "Lord House" and the "Warren House." It has also been known as the "Combes House" for many years, after Dr. Combes. Gift of Beecher Ogden 1941
