Manhattan: Madison Avenue - 70th Street

This photograph shows the original rendition of the Presbyterian Hospital, Madison Avenue between 70th-71st Streets, as planned by Richard M. Hunt. Hunt's stamp, at the lower right, is dated Dec. 13, 1869. James Lenox was the prime mover behind the Presbyterian Hospital, and he donated the site. This rendition by Hunt was owned by Lenox, and is marked as coming from the Lenox collection (below).
