Manhattan: Park Avenue - 70th Street
(1) Park Avenue, west side, from 70th to 71st Streets, on Lenox Hill, showing buildings of old Presbyterian Hospital shortly before demolition. The Presbyterian Hospital was founded in 1868 and the first buildings opened in 1872, on land given by James Lenox. In 1889 most of the original buildings were destroyed by fire, and as a result the entire scheme was rearranged. These buildings on Park Avenue are surgical pavilions; part of the Administration Building is shown on 70th Street. See also Madison Avenue. March 31, 1928. P. L. Sperr.
