Manhattan: Harlem River Drive - 194th Street (West)
Harlem River Speedway, at about West 194th Street, and viewing northwestward towards the embankment atop which is Amsterdam Avenue. Upon the east side of that thoroughfare is the distinctive "Fort Wendel", a hotel cafe erected in 1891. The ferris wheel is in Paradise Park, an amusement area that adjoins the Fort George Amusement Park. The latter lying between Amsterdam and Fort George Avenue's, is on the Revolutionary War site that held Fort George. The amusement buildings there were erected in 1895. Incidentally, that year saw the ferris wheel moved slightly to the left, and revolving in a more northerly and southerly direction. About 1895 Brown Brothers
