Manhattan: 5th Avenue - 38th Street
Fifth Ave., west side, north from and including West 38th Street, as viewed from an elevated point midway between 37th and 38th Streets. Note at the N.W. corner of 39th Street the 4-story Wendel House that has been replaced by a low business structure. Several blocks northward appears another structure that has been replaced; No. 500 Fifth Ave., at the N.W. corner of 42nd Street (shown with sign thereon). The apparent gap between these is occupied by the New York Public Library, which is receded from the normal building line. About 1928.
