Queens: Shore Boulevard - Ditmars Boulevard

Shore Boulevard (foreground), east side, north of Ditmars Boulevard, showing the A. D. Ditmars house. In 1653 this land was granted to Philip Gerarety. Captain William Penfold purchased it in 1719; his son, who died in 1764, was the next owner. Dr. Dow Ditmars purchased it in 1816. He was followed by Abraham D. Ditmars who was also mayor of Long Island City from 1873 to 1875. The house remained in the ownership of the Ditmars family until 1891. This is a set of four views.
