Note to the right the thoroughfare Sutton Place, an extension of York Avenue. In the summer of 1939 the foreground area will be filled in to carry the new East River Drive around the rim of Manhattan. It was proposed to carry same under the aforementioned thoroughfare by a tunnel but local objections forced the abandonment of this plan. P. L. Sperr
