Vernon Boulevard, east side, at Borden Avenue (vantage point). Shown is a general view eastward across the area lying between Borden Avenue (right) and 51st Avenue, which marks the direct line of the highway that will lead from the Queens-Midtown Tunnel exit. In the immediate foreground will be built the sunken plaza and the mouth of the tunnel. As the highway will reach the small group of tenements (center) it will bend to the left and across the clearance between the factories; that portion of the road will be elevated. On the right are the Long Island Railroad yards and Newtown Creek, marking the boundary between Queens and Brooklyn. November 19, 1938 New York Tunnel Authority
