Queens: 20th Road - 33rd Street

20th(Old Bowery Bay) Road, north side, east of 33rd Street, showing at the left foreground the home of George Kouwenhoven. At the right (center of view) is shown the family burial place of the Lawrence and Leverich families. In the background is the home of Peter Luyster. The owner of this farm was William Lawrence from 1700-1732. He was followed by John Leverich in 1732, and William Leverich later, who had possession until 1754. George Kouwenhoven was the owner from 1852-1860. Francis Durye Kouwenhoven erected (or remodeled?) this house in 1857. Harry Puschea Williams who married into the Kouwenhoven family is the present owner of the house. This house, seen in a set of four views, was no longer standing in May 1929. May 1923. Views 1 & 4.
