Queens: Queens Village - [215th Place - Spencer and Hillside Avenues - Real estate development.]

Queens Village, Queens: This is a general view south- ward showing an immense real estate development on former farmland owned by Wheeler Brothers and J. Van De Graw (1909). This development of low-cost two-family homes is known as "Jamaica Hillside." The unpaved street in the center, running toward the background, is 215th Place. In the immediate foreground is Spencer Avenue; below it is Whitehall Terrace; below that is the main east-west thoroughfare, Hillside Avenue. Joseph P. Day Photograph Department March, 1927
