Manhattan: Bowery - Bayard Street

The Bowery, west side, between Bayard and Canal Streets, showing the Atlantic Gardens. Adjoining on the left is the Bowery Theatre which became the Thalia in 1879. Note the telegraph poles and the absence of the 3rd Avenue "El" structure. The latter, erected in 1878 evidently dates this photo. prior to 1878 Gift of Urbrock Collection
