A general view of the lower East Side of Manhattan as photographed northeastward from the Woolworth Building (belief of the writer), showing that section east of Broadway (left) and north of the Brooklyn Bridge (right not included). In the foreground are several of the civic structures that surround City Hall Park. O'er cast by the shadow of the point of vantage are the roof of the old County Court House, the City Court, the Hall of Records, the Municipal Building, and the new hexagonal New York County Court House. The latter is under construction at this date and is the first civic structure to rise in the new center, Foley Square. Across the top runs the East River. 1923-4 Brown Bros., photo
