Manhattan: 129th Street (West) - Amsterdam Avenue

(1) Manhattanville: The Manhattanville Free School (left) and P.S. 43 (right) as viewed in a northward direction on Tenth Ave. (now Amsterdam) (right). These buildings were at the N.W. corner of West 129th Street. The first stood from 1827 to 1850, while the latter was finished in 1854. These structures have been demolished and today a similarly numbered school stands at this site. Unknown date. (2) A view of the eastern side of Ward School No. 43. This entrance was on Tenth Ave., which today is known as Amsterdam Ave. Unknown date. (3) Mr. Seiberg, who was principal of No. 43. Unknown date.
