Manhattan: 27th Street (West) - 9th Avenue

Chelsea Park: A set of 3 views, northeastward from various points on West 27th Street between Ninth and Tenth Avenues, showing the rear of Public School No. 33 and a Public Health Station, both located in the easterly half of this park. Across same appears the town of the Empire State Bldg. and the spire of the P.E. Church of the Holy Apostles; the latter is located at the S.E. corner of Ninth Avenue and W. 28th street and has a very interesting history, being representative of a single individuals tenacity of purpose and the reward thereof. In 1937 the Board of Education proposed to erect a new school here to replace that shown, but decided not to. Note the 1 story free milk station seen in the foreground. P. L. Sperr. August 4, 1938.
