Manhattan: Cherry Street - Corlears Street

Cherry Street, west from, a point between Corlears and Jackson Streets, and across the latter, showing this slum area in various stages of clearance. To the left is Corlears Hook Park and to the right are tenements that are not to come down (according to signs). View No. 2 is at Jackson Street and westward. Note at the right margin the W. P. A. work and time shack. This stands at the N. E. corner and appears in several other views. This agency is responsible for the preparatory razing necessary for Vladeck Houses. View No. 3 shows the clearance at the N. W. corner. This appears fenced in in View 2. The photographer is viewing northeastward to show an interior building at the rear of No. 37 Jackson Street.
