Manhattan: 8th Avenue - 26th Street (West)

Eighth avenue, west side, north from W. 26th Street, showing low structures lining this thoroughfare. The tall structure in the background is the 22 story Printing Crafts Building at 33rd-34th Streets. Behind same appears a glimpse of the new (under construction) 40 storied Hotel New Yorker. Fits Roy Road, in former years passed to the rears of the present buildings shown, continuing more or less parallel to the Avenue until it ended at Lake Tour Lane. Today this point would be at W. 42nd Street, midway between Eighth and Ninth Avenues. It began at Southhampton Road, a point which to-day would be at W. 14th Street just east of Eighth Avenue.
