Queens: 148th Street - Jamaica Avenue

148th Street (Tyndall Street), between Jamaica and Archer Aves., showing in the foreground the Adikes freight station. Beyond it, facing on 148th Street is the four story frame structure occupied by this family and used as a wholesale distributing house for groceries, grains, seeds etc. Henry Adikes flour mill, located on 148th Street, was established in 1855. In 1883 it stood opposite the Long Island Railroad station. The buildings in this view do not appear in 1931. 1922. Eugene L. Armbruster Collection.
