Queens: 117th Street - Jamaica Avenue
87-28 117th Street, adjoining the S.W. corner of Jamaica Avenue, showing the Captain Briggs House. Captain Jeremiah Briggs, a sea captain, built the house and lived here until his death in 1876 at the age of 84. His daughter Nina married Joel Fowler in 1877 and the couple made their home in this house. Joel Fowler was a Democrat and Conveyor of Public Works. Views 1,2: Eugene L.
