Manhattan: Carmine Street - 6th Avenue

(1) Carmine Street, north side, west from Sixth Avenue and Minetta Lane, not including No. 5 Carmine Street, the first house. Taken during the construction of the new city subway and the extension of Sixth Avenue south to Franklin Street, this view shows the cleared S.E. corner of Carmine and Bleecker Streets, and the new church of Our Lady of Pompeii on the N.W. corner, completed early in 1927 to replace the old church.
