Glass, brick and brownstone front 209 - 211 East 48th Street, Manhattan Federal Art Project "Changing New York" Berenice Abbott, photographer [Note: negative at Museum of the City of New York] Code | A-3 Feb. 1, 1938 p. 144, Changing New York 209 and 211 East 48th St., n.s., e. of Third Ave., showing two buildings forming a contrasting arrangement to indicate the modern trend. No. 211 was erected in 1860 by Charles Cheeseborough. Wm. Lescaze, architect, remodelled same in 1934, thereby producing New York's first glass brick residence.
