Manhattan: 77th Street (East) - 88th Avenue

This shows 53 and 55 E. 77th St., taken in the fall of 1956. 53 is the house, formerly numbered 37, where Paul Leicester Ford was murdered in 1902. The façade has been redone, so it does not look as it did then. It was one of the first houses in New York to have a built-in garage. Edwin H. Carpenter, Jr.
