403, 405 Bleecker Street (originally George Street), at and adjoining the N.E. corner of 11th Street (originally Hammond Street). The corner building contains a former saloon, being remodelled. The name George Street applied only to the uppermost section of Bleecker, north of Christopher Street, and was lost around 1829. The name Hammond Street was applied to this cross street west of Seventh Avenue, and was retained till about 1870. See 11th Street. March 8, 1929. P. L. Sperr.
