Manhattan: Washington Square South - Thompson Street

(1) Judson Memorial Baptist Church and other buildings, Washington Square South, from Thompson to Sullivan Streets. This church, with the 7-story tower, was erected in 1892, on the site where a coal-yard had stood in the 1850's. The buildings in the middle of the block, including the rooms in the tower were the Judson Hotel, one of the three Knott hotels on the Square; but they are now a New York University dormitory.
