Queens: Vernon Boulevard - 30th Road

Vernon Boulevard, east side, north from 30th Road to Main Avenue, showing two eighteenth-century homes. The first one is the John Greenoak house, later the Mrs. Blosson house; the second is the Halsey house. John Greenoak built this house in the early part of the eighteenth century and owned a farm here. The farm later came into the possession of Higgins, the carpet manufacturer. In 1831 Henry I. Blackwell took over the property. Blackwell's widow later married Blosson, and became the owner of the house in 1873.
