Manhattan: 43rd Street (West) - 8th Avenue

253-251 and 249 West 43rd Street, north side, east of Eighth Avenue, showing the Ascension Memorial Church (Protestant Episcopal) and a little house set back into the block, giving it a deep front yard. June 10, 1929. P. L. Sperr. The New York Times of November 22, 1939 reports the proposed demolition of this 90 year edifice. It was formerly occupied by the Bloomingdale Methodist Episcopal Church; the present congregation acquiring same in 1895.
